Linux User Groups (or LUGs) are groups of people with the common interest of Linux, who meet up for a variety of goals. There are LUGs all over the
World, and the best way to find the nearest one in your area is to do a Google search.
However doing this, you may have to search quite a few pages. When I searched out, my local LUG which is Hull LUG, it was not until I had scoured through 3 pages of results that I found what I was looking for. Many LUGs use mailing lists such as Yahoo Groups to keep in touch with their members, and in the UK, some use the directories on the lug.org.uk pages, so it may take a bit of searching to find your local LUG.
Hull LUG meets every month on the 1st Tuesday of the month in the Old Grey Mare on Cottingham Road. It has been running in its current form since the middle of 2008. Each meeting has about a dozen attendees, and there are more on the mailing lists. More information can be found about Hull Lug on our new web-site http://hulllug.org
